That pretty much explains Caden for the past month to month and half. He has been non-stop, 90 to nothing with no fear, except of what he calls the"trash trash man". The sound of the truck scares him. Anyway, he will jump off of anything, he will stand on top of anything, he will run into anything... you name it!
So Saturday night we had some friends over for dinner. My friend Erika was mentioning to me that he's none stop. I told her I know.. that we hadn't had that "ER trip" yet. We both laughed and not 10 mins later I hear the screaming coming from his room! I pick him up without even checking him out first. By then Shaw, Erika's husband had walked in and said Oh NO! I then looked at his face and coming out between his eye was a lump the size of a grape and growing before my eyes! Looking at him scared the crap out of me. He didn't even look like my kid! He was screaming and screaming... which if you know Caden you would know that he was really hurt cause he never cries over getting hurt! He has some tough skin! I just had a bad feeling about it. I had to call my Aunt to ask what to do (yes, she's in the medical profession). She went ahead and told me what I would have done anyway, to take him in.
We headed to the new hospital in Rockwall thinking it's bound to be better then Lakepoint when it comes to kids. Well after 2 hours in the waiting room and some very odd looks from random people in the room, they finally called us back. By then it was almost midnight and we had been keeping Caden awake for the initial diagnosis. The dr could barely get a good look cause Caden is also afraid of DRs. Anyway, he ordered an x ray and said he is probably fine.. So I stopped fighting to keep him awake and let him fall asleep. Which was a life savor by the time they needed to do the x rays. There's no way he would have sat still enough. Finally about an hour later (1am by now) the dr walks in and says "I think he fractured his skull"! In my head I was screaming " YOU THINK HE FRACTURED HIS SKULL"!!! WTF!!!!!! I was sooo made because by now it was 4 hours at the ER after they had let 2 other guys through... who to me looked like they were fine! It was clear my 2 year old had a head injury!! Sorry for the rant.. that's me being a mother! Final diagnosis.. Nasal fracture! Let's just say I did not leave happy!
Anyway, today was the follow up with the pediatrician. The dr said he looks fine, other then the nasty black eyes he has and will have for a week probably. Theres nothing they can do about fractures and to just keep an eye on him. So I guess it has started! I knew it was a matter of time.. and I'm happy we had 2 years without a trip to the ER. But, I guess I better brace myself for things to come!
Check out some of the pics from this weekend and today. They didn't show up in order but the close ups of his face are from Sat night on the way to the ER. The one with just him sitting on the couch is from Sunday and the one's with me are from today before the DR visit.
